Changing Tents and Showers
There will be a limited number of tents available for changing in the finish area (unsecured, no lockers). Showers will not be provided.
Timekeeping
Times will be measured exclusively using the
ChampionChip.
The ChampionChip is a plastic transponder that is attached to your running shoe and registers your personal time. The ChampionChip is used to keep times at about 60% of running events in Germany and at all of the major marathons throughout the world.
The following options are available:
a) Chip owners may enter their personal chip numbers on the registration form (a combination of seven numbers and letters).
b) Chips may be purchased: Please check the appropriate field on the registration form. The purchase price of the ChampionChip (31 euros) will be deducted from your account before the event, together with the registration fee. Once your data has been registered, you will receive the chip in the mail and it can then also be used for further events. Anyone registering later than 30 days before the event will receive the chip with his/her registration materials.
c) Chips may be leased with the option to purchase: You may rent the chip and return it undamaged within two hours of the end of the event. A rental fee of 4 euros will be charged upon registration.
By registering with the rental option you have simultaneously signed a contract to purchase after the end of the rental period. If you opt to keep the chip after the event your account or credit card will be debited with 25 euros.
This procedure will preclude the practice of returning a deposit for the chip on race day. Please fasten the chip to your shoelaces (not with anything metal), otherwise your time will not be measured.
Race Materials and Gathering place
Dear Participant!
We are delighted to be able to welcome you as an active participant in the 10 km Champions Run on August 22 in Berlin.
Race number pick-up:
Race number pick-up will take place on:
Thursday, August 20, 2009, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on
Friday, August 21, 2009, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at
Olympischer Platz ("Olympic Square", corner of Trakehner Allee), 14053 Berlin.
You will receive your race number packet and rental chip (if you do not own a time-keeping chip). Please be sure to come to pick up your race materials during the times listed above so that on competition day you can concentrate completely on your race and enjoy the 10km loop.
Please note the new starting time:
For organisational reasons, the race will not begin until 3:45 p.m. The men’s marathon race for the 12™ IAAF World Championships in Athletics has been pushed back by 45 minutes and will begin at 11:45 a.m.
Pre-start gathering place:
Due to the men’s World Championship marathon race, runners for the 10 km race will not be able to set up for the start until after the men’s marathon race has finished. We would thus like to ask all participants to first find their way to the gathering place along John-Foster-Dulles-Allee (sculpture garden, lawn across from the large lawn in front of the Reichstag between Grosse Querallee, Paul-Löbe-Allee, Heinrich-von-Gagern-Str. and Scheidemannstr.) before the race. Be certain to enter the area from the northern side (from the direction of the main train station, Hauptbahnhof). There will be a place here for you to store your clothing bag. All of the participants will then be led together to the start with time to spare before the race begins.
After crossing the finish, this is also where you can have your medal engraved.
We wish you lots of success!
Important Information
Fair sportsman-like behaviour is expected of all participants. Please keep to the marked route. The organisers have the right to disqualify participants in the following cases: leaving the course, missing intermediate times, tampering with race number.
Race number must be worn on the chest and may not be tampered with.
Power Walking
Power walkers must line up at the back of the starting field. There will not be a separate list of results for power walkers; they will be listed together with the runners. Nordic walking is not permitted!
Awards
All participants will receive a medal and a certificate at the finish line (until the finish is closed). The lists of results will not be sent out by mail. All results and certificates (including time and ranking) will be published online after the race at: www.championsrun.de.
